More than 50 works of art were on display at a fundraiser and art show benefitting the James Howe House. Taylor was the sole student to participate in the event. She donated the proceeds from the sale of two paintings.
Organized by the Friends of the Howe House, the second annual art exhibit and sale will benefit the programs and upkeep of the historic James Howe House in Montclair. One of the oldest structures in Montclair, dating to the Revolutionary era, the home belonged to James Howe, an enslaved man in the 1800s. After a decade of servitude to Major Nathaniel Crane, he was manumitted, which ended his enslavement. Crane left the home and six acres to Howe in 1831.
